Monica's journey into the pool industry began with a simple decision to build a swimming pool for her own home. That experience eventually led her to work for the company that built it, introducing her to an industry she would spend nearly three decades in. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family helped shape her mindset, and over time she gained experience in pool design, market development, and specialty water treatment before becoming a business owner herself.

Her career was never built on overnight success. Instead, it was formed through years of learning, adapting, and taking opportunities as they came.

Losing Everything Became
a New Beginning

One of the defining moments of Monica's story came during the 2009 economic downturn. She lost the company she had owned for 15 years while also experiencing major personal challenges, including the breakdown of her marriage and significant family hardships. It was a season where she questioned what the future would look like.

Rather than walking away from the industry, an unexpected invitation to attend a trade show introduced her to a new opportunity. She joined a specialty chemical company where she spent the next decade teaching professionals across the country about water chemistry, eventually serving as Vice President of Market Development and Training. Looking back, Monica sees that difficult season not as the end of her story but as the beginning of a new chapter.

Leadership Built on Excellence

Today, Monica and her husband lead Artisan Pool & Design with a commitment to quality and intentional craftsmanship. Their approach goes beyond creating beautiful pools. They focus on customized spa designs, advanced hydraulic systems, efficient construction scheduling, and proper water treatment practices that help clients enjoy long lasting results.

Every project reflects years of industry knowledge and a desire to serve clients with excellence. From personalized spa seating to carefully selected service partners, their goal is to provide an experience that prioritizes both quality and trust.

Faith Through Every Challenge

Monica openly shares that business success has not protected her from hardship. During one of the most stressful seasons of her life, she developed stress induced alopecia and lost her hair multiple times. What initially felt devastating eventually became one of the greatest turning points in her life.

She explains that losing her hair brought her back to God in a deeper way than ever before. Instead of defining herself by her circumstances, she learned to find peace and confidence in her faith. Through that experience, she has been able to encourage others who are facing their own difficult seasons, reminding them that hope can still exist in the middle of uncertainty.

Rebuilding a Marriage Through Faith

Another important chapter in Monica's journey was the restoration of her relationship with her now husband. After returning to church and allowing trusted mentors to speak into their lives, they made the decision to honor their faith by changing the direction of their relationship before marriage.

Monica describes this period as another example of God taking broken pieces and making them whole again. Their restored relationship became the foundation for both their marriage and the business they now operate together.

Giving Back Beyond Business

While growing Artisan Pool & Design, Monica also developed a passion for serving her local community. Joining Rotary gave her the opportunity to support multiple nonprofit organizations while knowing that each cause had been carefully vetted. Her desire to give back extends beyond financial support and reflects her belief that business should create opportunities to serve others.

She also shared a future vision for a property called "The Sanctuary," where she hopes to one day bring people together for Bible studies, community outreach, and caring for those in need. For Monica, building a successful business is only part of a much larger purpose.
